TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta District Court on Monday held the first pretrial lawsuit filed by Dahlan Iskan against the Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office. However, when the trial began, Dahlan Iskan was not present and was represented by his legal counselor Yusril Ihza Mahendra. “Mr. Dahlan does not have to come,” said Yusril on Monday.
The trial’s agenda was the reading of the lawsuit and led by judge Lendriaty Janis.
Previously, on June 5, the Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office named Dahlan Iskan suspect in alleged corruption of substations in Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara in fiscal year 2011-2013. At that time, Dahlan Iskan served as president director of state electricity company PLN.
The Prosecutor’s Office subjected Dahlan to Article 2 and 3 of the corruption law. The articles regulate unlawful acts to enrich oneself or others and abuse of authority that cause state losses.
Dahlan challenged the Prosecutor’s Office and filed a pretrial lawsuit to the South Jakarta District Court on July 22. He wanted to test the evidence and the process in naming him suspect.
