TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The new chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Sutiyoso, claimed that his agency is operating on a small budget, suggesting an increase. Sutiyoso plans to lobby the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government, asking for a larger budget while citing that BIN sits on the frontline of national security.

"In any countries, intelligence operation is an expensive operation because it concerns national security. I will consult with the DPR about this issue," said Sutiyoso on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

Previously, Sutiyoso, who just recently been elected as the new Chief of BIN, vowed that he will help to strengthen the agency. Although he had requested for a larger budget, Sutiyoso is yet to announce the ideal budget for the Agency.

Mahfud Siddiq, Head of the Defense Commission at the DPR, confirmed Sutiyoso's request. Mahfud admitted that BIN is operating on a very limited fund.
