City to Build 7000 Low-Cost Flats in Central Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta City Administration will build 7,000 flat units to answer the problem of the high residential demand in city. Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta has been choosen as a new site to run flat project.
Those flat is designed for lower economy citizens. Thus workers in capital no need to live in the border city area.
Jakarta Governor, Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama acknowledged currently there is a 9.5 hectare land to be used as this project. Each unit size is 30 square meter.
"At the end of 2017 we target it to be built completely. Those citizens who work in capital are allowed to lease eventhough they have no Jakarta ID-Card," he uttered during Jakarta Fair Launching took place, Friday evening.
According to Ahok, there are a lot of workers in capital spent until Rp 5 million per a month only for transportation cost. While for flat cost is around Rp2 to 3 million that will lighten their burdens.
"Later we are going to accomodate the street vendors by build a shelter to prevent them selling randomly in a verge," he explained.
The Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla enclosed that the function of Kemayoran airfield seemed misuse and cannot be relied upon since it changed as luxury apartment complex with golf field. This is considered contradictive with nowadays citizens situation.
"We could provide 100 more hectares in that area to build flat. The function have to be returned as its previous for the sake of citizens prosper. Could you imagine the area has quite large land but in fact fire almost often hit the residential due to their narrowness homes," he disclosed.
