TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thousands of people from various regions witnessed the Banyumas Extravaganza 2015 event on Sunday, in the celebration of the 433rd Birthday of Banyumas, Central Java.


The cultural parade is staged to promote the potential tourism of the district of Banyumas that starts from Rajawali Theater (S. Parman Street) towards the honorary stage in Alun-alun Purwokerto (City Square), by passing through Srimaya intersection and Jendral Soedirman Street.


Nadya, a tourist from Semarang, admit in seeing the perfomance after traveling to Baturraden.


“The event is similar to the Solo Batik Carnival. However, it needs to be improved inorder to make it more attractive,” said Nadya.


Nevertheles, she is stunned by the paper umbrella particular to Kalibagor that were carried by the participants. "Paper umbrellas are hard to find these days," stated Nadya, “They will become the main attraction for tourists.”


Head of Tourism Division to the Youth and Sports Culture and Banyumas Tourism Department, Deskart Setyo Jatmiko, said that the performance is an annual agenda in an event to promote tourism in Banyumas and to increase the number of visitors to the district.


"The event is aim to revive paper umbrella crafting industry particular to Kalibagor that has long been dead,” said Deskart.
