Yogyakarta to Represent Indonesia at 2017 Europalia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is confirmed to be the guest at the European International Art Festival or Europalia, which will be held in Brussel, Belgium, in 2017. Yogyakarta is appointed to represent Indonesia’s rich art and cultures in the festival.
“The art festival will be held around 70 countries in Europe for four months,” said Patrick Hermann, the Belgium Ambassador to Indonesia said when met at Kepatihan Yogyakarta.
According to Patrick, gastronomy and contemporary arts will have their place at the festival along with classical and traditional arts. A team of Belgian and Indonesia curators will be selecting kinds of arts that will be brought to the festival.
“We hope thet the arts show the multiculturalism of Yogyakarta,” added Patrick who came with Europalia General Manager Kristine de Mulder and the Counselor of Indonesian Ambassador in Brussel, Riaz J.P. Saehu.
Indonesia’s participation is scheduled to be announced in May by the Minister of Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education, Anis Baswedan.
