TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Deputy Minister of Justice and Human Rights Denny Indrayana, claimed that the Corruption Commission Eradication had supported the Payment Gateway project under several conditions.

"[The KPK] suggested to have coordination with the Finance Ministry and to strengthen the legal basis," Denny said at the National Police Headquarter on Thursday, April 2, 2015.

According to Denny, the KPK made the recommendations during a coordination meeting with the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, the Communications and Information Ministry, Bank Indonesia, the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, and PT KAI. However, Denny refused to reveal the reason to keep on running the online passport payment project.

Earlier, National Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said that the KPK had advised Denny not to continue the Payment Gateway project.

"The KPK made a recommendation that this project bears legal risks," Rikwanto said on Monday, March 30, 2015.

Police has named Denny as a suspect in a graft case surrounding the Payment Gateway Project. Denny was accused of directly appointing two vendors, Doku and Finnet Indonesia, to handle the project. Police charged Denny with Article 2(1), Article 3 and Article 23 of Law No. 31/1999 on Corruption in conjunction with Article 421 of the Criminal Code and Article 55(1) of the Criminal Code on collective authority misuses.
