TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bayern Munich’s midfielder Franck Ribery says he likes to stay in Germany and wish to retire with Munich. The former French international player is even considering to apply for German citizenship.
"Why not? I can imagine staying in Munich after my career," the 31-year-old said as quoted by ESPN FC.
"I have a good feeling in Germany. If I do it, I'll do it for my family, for my future. My son Saif was born here. He could even play for Germany one day.”
Ribery said his negative image in France was a factor when he retired from his international duty last summer. Ribery was ruled out of the tournament in Brazil due to back problems and his request to be examined by Bayern’s doctor was denied by French football authority.
"With France - I'm finished. For two years I did everything to play at the World Cup - in qualifying I was the one with the most goals and most assists,” Ribery said to Mirror.
"France were in Brazil thanks to me. But all that is in the past. I'm really disappointed with what happened."
