As reported by Mirror.co.uk on Sunday, an ISIS sympathizer posted the threat on Twitter and security chiefs, who have deployed 4,800 troops to tourist traps, took the threat seriously.
ISIS also vowed to impose sharia law on Italy. Twitter user Abu Abdullah Britani wrote: “#We_Are_Coming_O_Rome with slaughter”.
One user posted an image of Russell Crowe in movie Gladiator with the message “So you are coming to Rome, let me entertain you”.
The threat came a few days after the beheading of 21 Christians in Libya by jihadists shown through a video.
