TEMPO.CO , Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian Court denied the Malaysian Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s appeal in a court session in Putrajaya, Tuesday, February 10. Therefore, the final verdict suggested that Anwar is to be put behind bars for five years.
Anwar has been attempting to get freed from the bizarre sexual abuse allegation. Back in April 2014, Anwar posed an appeal, after the court decided five years imprisonment for Anwar.
Anwar was convicted of sodomy over his former assistant, Mohamad Saiful Bukari Azlan, in a condominium back in 2008. Previously, the former Prime Minister was also confronted of similar case against his personal driver.
Having served prison can mean that Anwar will lose his post in the parliament. Malaysian law said that a parliament member will lose his rights upon serving more than a year in prison.
