Jokowi Calls on Regions to Increase Food Production

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During his working visit to Ngawi, East Java, President Joko Widodo instructed regional leaders and farmers to increase their food production in their respective regions.
The President also said that the central government would continue improving agriculture system, such as by donating tractors, water pumps as well by accelerating distribution of fertilizers and seeds and revitalizing irrigation system.
"We are donating these aids. I hope production will increase. Farmers must be diligent,” Jokowi said in a dialog with thousands of farmers.
On that occasion the government donated 852 tractors and 377 water pumps and the President symbolically gave tractors and water pumps to representatives of farmers in Geneng district, Ngawi regency, East Java.
East Java is one of the provinces given free tractors and water pumps.
President Joko Widodo futher said that East Java Governor Soekarwo is able to increase fire production to two tons of rice and expected that other provinces would also do the same.
