Greece's Anti-Austerity Syriza Party Wins Election

TEMPO.CO, Athena - Anti-austerity Syriza party has won Greece's general election on Sunday, sealing 36 percent of votes. The governing centre-right New Democracy has come a distant second, at 28 percent of votes. With nearly 75 percent of the votes counted, Syriza is projected to win 149 seats in the goverment.
Left-wing Syriza party leader Alexis Tsipras, who wants to renegotiate Greece's debt, said "the Greeks wrote history". He said in his victory speech that he is willing to negotiate with Greece's European partners, as reported by BBC.
Moreover, the outcome of the election is being closely watched outside Greece. It is believed that Syriza victory could encourage radical leftist parties across Europe.
