TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Oil and Gas Governance Team suggested that the government and state oil company Pertamina to stop importing RON 88 fuel, or locally known as Premium, due to its expensive price, team member Djoko Siswanto said on Thursday, December 18, 2014.
According to Djoko, the recommendation letter to stop RON 88 imports will be signed and sent to related institutions. Djoko said that RON 88 fuel is no longer produced in the global market.
Djoko revealed that Pertamina imported RON 92 fuel to be processed into Premium fuel, which according to Djoko is a lengthy and inefficient process.
During an interview with Tempo, Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team chief Faisal Basri said that the price calculation for the RON 88 was unclear, since Pertamina had to mix RON 92 with naphtha to produce Premium. Therefore, the price for RON 88 could reach 98.42 percent of the RON 92 price.
