Pertamina Promises to Lower jet Fuel Price

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – State-run oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) has promised to meet the airlines' demand to lower the price of aviation fuel. Pertamina marketing and retail director Ahmad Bambang said a price cut could be done by asking for tax exemption from the Finance Ministry.
"We will find a solution that is will benefit everyone," Ahmad said on Sunday.
Ahmad said this week Pertamina will formulate a dispensation proposal with the Indonesian National Aviation Company Association (INACA). The company will also propose for an abolition of a number of dues and fees that have contributed to the high price of aviation fuel.
Pertamina, Ahmad said, is also trying to cut back on import and distribution costs from refineries to refueling depots.
INACA chairman Arif Wibowo had asked Pertamina to lower its jet fuel price, which is 12 percent higher prices in neighboring countries. Lowering jet fuel prices, he said, is necessary to help national carriers compete with foreign airlines.
