TEMPO.CO , Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will open a branch office in Sumatra in 2015. “We are still discussing in which province,” said KPK deputy chief Bambang Widjojanto on Sunday.
The establishment of a branch office aims at tackling corruption and providing anti-corruption education.
Bambang said Sumatra is a place for misappropriation of natural resources, such as conversion of forests and lands. “We decided to establish a branch office in one of Sumatra’s provinces.”
Bambang added the branch will serve as a trial office. If successful, he went on, the commission will open another five branch offices across the nation in 10 years.
Bambang believes there are many youths who want to be involved in eradicating corruption. “We believe there are many agents of change in Sumatera. We need new spirits in combating corruption,” he said.
