TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian football national team had to struggle before finally sealed draw result 2-2 in the 2014 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) fixture against Vietnam in Hanoi. Indonesia’s coach Alfred Riedl said his squad being lucky in the My Dinh Stadium last night as he considered the opponent was more prepared to play.

Vietnam pushed Indonesian back lines since the early minutes, making Indonesia’s playing pattern centered in the mid line. Vietnam took the lead through Que Ngoc Hai’s flying ball in the 11 minute. Indonesia equalized the position after Zulham Zamrun scored at the 33 minute.

Vietnam’s supporters filled up the air with cheers as Le Cong Vinh tricked Indonesia’s goal keeper Kurnia Meiga with his curved shot, making it 2-1 for Vietnam. However, Samsul Arif saved Indonesia’s face as he scored second goal for the squad at the 84 minute.

The draw result has given Vietnam and Indonesia each one point in Group A. Top position is occupied by Philippines after beating Laos 4-1.
