Pertamina: Oil Production Will Rise by 40,000bpd

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – State-run oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) projected an increase of crude oil production by 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) at the end of 2014. Pertamina senior VP for upstream business development, Denie S. Tampubolon, said the additional production will come from the oil blocks in Sarawak and Sabah, Malaysia.
Pertamina has reached a PSC agreement with US-based firm Murphy Oil over the Petronas-managed oil block. "We are now waiting for approval from the Malaysian government," he said in Jakarta yesterday.
Pertamina acting chief Muhammad Husen said next year's production will be supported by contributions from overseas blocks.
The contribution volume includes the output from blocks belonging to Murphy Oil's subsidiary in Malaysia, Murphy Sabah Oil Co Ltd dan Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd, in which Pertamina recently acquired 30 percent stake.
