TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama inspected Rawamangun sports center in East Jakarta on Saturday, November 01, 2014, to monitor the preparation of the venue for the 2018 Asian Games.
Ahok first inspected the athletic stadium at the center and said the 13,500-square meter area has met the standards set by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
“We can use the Stadium for Asian Games,” Ahok said at Rawamangun athletic stadium.
Ahok continued his visit to the basketball court and said the arena needed repairs, particularly for the building’s roof. Ahok said the Jakarta administration will provide grants through the Housing and Government Building Agency to build housing for athletes.
In addition to Rawamangun sports center, Ahok urged that the BMW stadium project must be accelerated to be used as the home ground for the city’s soccer club, Persija and Persitara.
“The project must be completed within two years,” Ahok said.
