TEMPO.CO , Ottawa - Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper has condemned the brutal and violent shooting of a Canadian soldier in Ottawa on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He said that the incident is a reminder that Canada is not immune to terrorism.
"[…] let there be no misunderstanding, we will not be intimidated," Harper said.
Harper said that the attack would not deter Canada from working with international allies to fight terrorism around the world. "This will lead us to strengthen our resolve and redouble our efforts, to fight against the terrorist organizations," he said.
Harper conveyed his statement hours after a gunman, 32-year-old Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, shot and killed a guard at the war memorial before storming the Canadian parliament, in which he was killed. The prime minister was at a meeting with party members in the parliament building as the gunfire erupted.
