Semen Indonesia Kuasai 44 Persen Pasar Nasional

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Semen Indonesia has started the development of an electric power plant with the capacity of 30.6 MW that will be powered by waste heat recovery power generation system (WHRPG), also known as exhaust gas, in Tuban. The project will be carried out in cooperation with Japan’s JFE Engineering.

"The investment is worth Rp 638 billion," Managing Director of Semen Indonesia Dwi Soetjipto, said in a statement on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. The WHRPG power plant will be built in Semen Indonesia’s Tuban factory one through four.

Dwi claimed that the project will be the first WHRPG project in Indonesia. All the exhaust gas will be used to power generators in one area. Previously, Semen Indonesia have build a power plant employing the WHRPG system with a capacity of 8.5 MW in Indarung Padang factory since 2011.

The power plant in Tuban is expected to be completely developed in 26 months. Started on October 2014, the power plant is scheduled to operate at the end of the second semester of 2016.
