TEMPO.CO, Kupang – The government of Timor Leste will inaugurate a market located on its border with Indonesia in Motaain on October 28, 2014.

"The border market of Timor Leste and Indonesia is inaugurated to facilitate buying and selling activities for the people of the two countries,” said Numirando Soares, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Environment of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste on Thursday, October 9, 2014.

Numirando said his ministry would invite East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor Frans Lebu Raya to attend the inauguration ceremony. According to him, the existence of the market would boost the economy of the local communities and serve as a medium for the people to gather—making it easier for them to get all kinds of life necessities.

“This market is expected to increase the economy of residents on the border,” he said.

Governor Frans Leu has promised he would attend the inauguration ceremony.
