Jokowi to Reform Pertamina, Eradicate Oil and Gas Mafia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said he would conduct reforms at state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina to eradicate oil and gas mafia.
“The company’s management, human resources, organizations, planning and stock management will be reformed,” Jokowi said at the City Hall on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
Jokowi said he had multiple plans to eradicate the oil and gas mafia at Pertamina, yet stopped short of specifying the measures.
“We have identified everything. But I can’t reveal all of them to the public,” he said.
According to Jokowi, reforms at Pertamina would be the main target of the incoming Energy and Mineral Resources minister and Pertamina director. Jokowi said he would ask them to address cost inefficiency at the company.
Jokowi also balked at revealing the candidates to fill ESDM ministerial and Pertamina director posts. He said that he would form a task force to combat oil and gas mafia.
