TEMPO.CO, Kupang – The Corruption Eradication Commission has taken over a suspected graft case involving the informal education (PLS) funds at the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Education Agency after finding the state had lost around Rp59 billion from the case.

Eight KPK investigators arrived at the NTT Prosecutor’s Office to take over the case on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

"We have found state losses worth over Rp59 billion,” KPK supervision team chief Rano said at the office.

Rano added based on the investigation by the KPK, the Rp59 billion were stolen from the Rp77 billion earmarked in 2007 by the government. He added the NTT Prosecutor’s Office only discovered losses of Rp2.3 billion. “We will handle the case,” Rano asserted.

NTT Prosecutor’s Office chief Mangihut Sinaga said the KPK took over the case following the discovery of higher state losses in the case. He added his office was still awaiting the calculation results on the state losses from the Development and Finance Surveillance Agency (BPKP) of NTT.

“We’ve handled this case far enough, we just have to wait for the calculation on the state losses,” he said.
