TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ambassador of Indonesia to Libya Raudin Anwar, said that there are 30 Indonesians remain inside the country. The Embassy of Indonesia had managed to evacuate around 172 Indonesian citizens in six stages until last September 3, 2014.

"There are still at least 30 people on our list still inside [the country]. The number may increase or even decrease because it is difficult for us to verify them entirely because many of them have not report [to the embassy]," said Raudin yesterday.

Up until the sixth stage of the evacuation, as many as 89 men and 83 women have been successfully evacuated. Some of them do not wish to be evacuated as they have been taken someplace safe by their employers, while some are still under work contract which makes it difficult to evacuate them as their employers do not allow it.

Raudin said that the evacuation of Indonesians from Libya faces threats from the rebels who have occupied more than half of Tripoli. It is possible that the convoy might be in danger from rebel attacks as the road heading to RasJedir, the border between Libya and Tunis, is filled with checkpoints established by rebel forces. "Life threatening situations can happen in those checkpoints," he said.
