TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Zulfarsah, the corporate secretary of city-owned Bank DKI, said the company was collecting data of Marunda low-cost apartment residents to make bank accounts and ATM cards for the residents to their rents with an auto debit system.

“We’re coordinating with the Housing Agency in gathering the data. The cards are targeted to be finished this month,” said Zulfarshah on Monday. The ATM cards will also become Apartment Resident Cards with the names and the pictures of the bearers.

The inclusion of names and pictures was instructed by Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuku “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, who was furious upon knowing that the tenants' ID cards were only simple, laminated white cards. The cards did include virtual account numbers, apartment codes, clusters, blocks, floors and unit numbers, but Ahok wanted the cards to be able to be used to identify apartment residents.

Bank DKI will first issue 1,000 new ATM cards for residents of Marunda apartment’s B cluster. These ATM cards will also be used by residents of other city-owned apartments.

Technical Management Unit Region I chief Marhayadi said officers in the field have collected photos to make the ATM cards. They also have sorted the photos submitted by residents together with letters of agreement when they arrived at the apartment. The photos are scanned and the data sent to Bank DKI.

“If there is a letter of agreement with no photo, we will summon the person to submit the photo,” he said.
