TEMPO.CO, Cairo - The long negotiation between Palestine and Israel in Cairo, Egypt, which is followed by a five day cease-fire, has not yield any agreements between the two sides. They have decided to extend the cease-fire by another 24 hours.
As reported by BBC earlier today, the extension of the cease-fire is hoped to be utilized by the Palestine and Israel delegation to continue their negotiations until they can reach a permanent cease-fire.
In the negotiation that was mediated by Cairo, Qais Abdul Karim from the Palestine delegation stated that Israel demands a guarantee for the disarmament of the Hamas rebels and all other factions in Gaza, while Palestine demands the government of Israel and Egypt to clear out the blockade in Gaza.
However until today, Hamas stated clearly that they have no intention of surrendering their weapons. Israel on the other hand, is also reluctant to clear out the blockade in relation to their concern that Hamas might take advantage of the open border to smuggle weapons.
