Expert Supports Ahok's Decision to Terminate Monorail Project

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Azas Tigor Nainggolan, transportation expert from the Jakarta Transportation Agency, supported Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama's proposal to terminate the monorail project. "I have been telling for years. The project is not feasible," Tigor told Tempo.
Yesterday, on the first day Joko Widodo returned to the City Hall, Ahok recommended a contract termination signed by Jakarta City Administration and PT Jakarta Monorel. Ahok said that Jokowi has agreed and that he gives time to PT Jakarta Monorel to meet all pre-requisites to the contract termination until August.
Tigor said that PT Jakarta Monorel still needs to finish a lot of things, including construction blueprint, business plan, and funding. Moreover, he mentioned that the route covered by the project is not appropriate, covering only shopping centers instead of mass transportation posts.
