TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The presidential candidate from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, guaranteed there would be no mass mobilization during the official announcement of the presidential race's vote tally results on July 22.

“There will be no such thing [mass mobilization]. We want everything to be peaceful,” Jokowi said after an internal meeting in Jakarta on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

The inactive Jakarta Governor said he would accept the final vote tally results announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) even if it meant losing the election. He also promised that he would comply with the constitution and the people’s mandate.

Earlier, KPU commissioner Ferry Rizki Kurniansyah called on both presidential candidates to refrain from deploying their supporters during the announcement of KPU’s vote tally results on July 22. Another KPU commissioner, Sigit Pamungkas, said there were other ways to keep tabs on the presidential ballots without having to mobilize supporters.
