Port Officers Gear Up for Eid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhammad Iqbal, spokesman of Nusantara Port Parepare said that port officers are to watch homecomers' belongings. "We will keep both eyes on their belongings, in order to anticipate illegal stuffs," said Iqbal, referring to the previous bust at the port that unveiled explosive detonators and crystal meth.


Iqbal said that as of July 13 until August 13, Nusantara Port establishes one-stop service post for Eid Homecoming. The post, comprising various elements, will operate 24-hour a day, providing service to homecomers and monitoring their belongings. "We also provide homecomers with a number of facilities, such as health facility."


Moreover, the post is set to provide information on ship departure and arrival, as well as information on ticket price. "This is to avoid illegal ticket dealer (calo) practices," he said.
