'Sang Kyai' to March on Cannes Film Festival

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian film 'Sang Kyai' (The Cleric) is again going to be screened in an international film festival. This time, the film directed by Rako Prijanto, is going to the 67th Cannes Film Festival held on May 14 to May 2, in Cannes, France.
"Indonesia is again taking part in the 67th Festival de Cannes by participating in the Marche du Film as the main agenda," said Molly Prabawaty, the Film Festival and Exhibition Section Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, in London.
Molly said that the total of around 50 Indonesian films is to be promoted in the one of prestigious international film festival. Alongside Sang Kyai, other films will also be brought to Cannes, such as: '99 Cahaya Langit Eropa' (The 99 Lights of Europe's Sky) and the winner 2013 Busan International Film Festival 'Jalanan' (The Street Life) by Daniel Ziv.
Molly believes that March du Film is the world's biggest film market where around 10,000 business practitioners from around the globe attend each year. Indonesia is going to open a 28-meter-square booth to promote Indonesian films.
