TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Governor of DKI Jakarta Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo removed 7 division heads, including the Head of Transportation Division Udar Pristono. Udar was replaced by Muhammad Akbar, an official of the Transportation division of Central Jakarta. Udar was transferred to the Governor's Team for Accelerated Development (TGuPP).

Interviewed after the transition event, Udar refused to answer whether this transfer was due to the Transjakarta bus procurement case. He only explained that his new position involves the monitoring of current developments and providing advice.

Public policy analyst Andrinof Chaniago, complimented Jokowi's move of transferring 7 underperforming division heads. However, it was considered to be somewhat not ideal to have the replacements originated from internal officials.

Andrinof explained that most of the replacement officials receive their orders from their underperforming predecessors. "Those who are chosen are like the best from the bad bunch," said Andrinof.

On the contrary, Director of Institute for Transportation and Development Policy Yoga Adiwinarto, is convinced that the new head of the transportation division will be better compared to the earlier official. He hoped that under Akbar's leadership, there will be a synergy in facing the reactions of the public on public transportation.
