TEMPO.CO , Makassar - Bosowa Corporindo, an integrated corporation based on the eastern region of Indonesia, is assessing the possibilites to expand to the aviation industry as the company plans to operate two units of plane with a total investment value of Rp 40 billion. Bosowa Corporindo CEO Erwin Aksa, stated that two Twin Otter PAC 750 planes, made in New Zealand, are currently stationed in Papua, ready to be delivered.
"The planes are expected to help connectivity in Sulawesi," said Erwin. The planes, soon to be named 'Cahaya Bone', will serve regional route in South, South East, and West Sulawesi.
Chief of South Sulawesi Tourism Company Association (ASITA) Didi Leonardo Manaba, stated that local routes are needed to support regional economy. The fact that few people prefers to take local routes is in contradictory with the high demand of distribution to remote areas.
