Jokowi Needs to Conduct Sudden Inspection, Says Analyst

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Public Policy Analyst, Andrinof Chaniago, stated that Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo needs to conduct unannounced sudden inspection to monitor his subordinates' performance. According to him, his impromptu visits (locally known as blusukan) have not yet caused a deterrent effect.
According to him, Jokowi faces a challenge to make the apparatuses to be initiative and responsive. However, said Andrinof, most of the apparatuses have been causing problems instead of providing solutions. "The problem has been a habit for decades," he said.
Therefore, said Andrinof, with Jokowi's unannounced sudden inspections, citizens can be informed about the officials' mental attitude and performance. "At least people are aware about their performance," he said.
