TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Halim Perdanakusuma Airport will serve domestic commercial flights starting Friday, January 10 to reduce density at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Transportation Minister Evert Erenst Mangindaan said Halim Airport is ready to serve Citilink Airline flights. "Citilink will become the first airline to fly from Halim," Mangindaan said yesterday.
Garuda Indonesia and Indonesia AirAsia will also join Citilink at Halim Airport. Garuda will start in February and AirAsia will start in March.
The Transportation Ministry and PT Angkasa Pura II have prepared Halim Airport for commercial flights since long ago. Halim Airport has prepared three parking stands for airplanes such as Boeing 737-800 NG and Boeing 737-900 ER.
Although Halim Airport will be in operation starting tomorrow, the airport still serves military and VIP flights. Capacity of this airport is 12 movements every hour and available time slots are 126 for 24-hour operation.
