TEMPO.CO, Manchester - After playing for Manchester United for seven seasons, Michael Carrick finally won the 2012/2013 Players’ Player of the Year.
Carrick has been one of the key players for Manchester United in winning the 2012/2013 Premier League. The 31 year-old appeared in 35 MU matches in the league, only seconded to Robin Van Persie who appeared 37 times. "Obviously this means an awfully lot," said Carrick as quoted by the official website of the club, manutd.com. "It really is special for me."
"I work with the lads every day and train every day. For them to give me the vote for this means a lot. I’m proud of the boys but it all comes from the manager (Sir Alex Ferguson)," he added.
Carrick was also nominated for PFA Player of the Year, yet the titlte went to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gareth Bale. Nevertheless, Carrick made it to the PFA Team of the Year line-up, along with three other MU players: David De Gea, Rio Ferdinand, and Robin Van Persie.
