TEMPO.CO, Serang - The Banten Administration has allocated Rp 4 billion (around US$ 410,000) to send the Gita Surosowan marching band to the Netherlands to compete in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade from July 21 to July 28. This team will represent Indonesia for the music competition held every four years. Yadi Mulyadi, head of the Banten General Household Affairs Bureau, said the budget would be used for rehearsals, accomodation and transportation of 138 contestants.

The competition will include 21 nations competing from around the world, including the United States, Japan, and Thailand. "We want to honor Indonesia’s name," said Banten Deputy Governor Rano Karno.
