Biorock Indonesia Present at Asia Pacific Day of the Ocean

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The reef restoration organization Biorock Indonesia introduced several ways to rehabilitate reefs during the Asia Pacific Day of the Ocean in Bangkok, Thailand.
“We have ample experience and effective modes in growing back reefs in a short amount of time,” said Biorock Indonesia representative Ricky Ismail Soerapoetra in a written statement Tempo received on Monday, Nov. 26.

The Asia Pacific Day was initiated by the United Nation Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP). The event was held at the N Conference Center, Bangkok, Thailand.
According to the UN-ESCAP, Asia-Pacific is the home to several maritime biodiversities and a productive marine economy that has proven to be a vital source for life, employment, nutrition, up to the economic growth that is important for climate harmony.
According to the latest data from the Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Program (COREMAP) released on 2-17, Indonesia’s coral reef field encompasses 2.5 million hectares that house 569 biodiversity from 82 reef genus. This, in fact, is 67 percent of the world’s reef species.
