TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commissioner of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), Rahmat Bagja, said Jakarta Bawaslu found an indication of violation during the peace declaration of 2019 presidential election campaign in Monas, Sunday, September 23. The peace declaration became public highlight since Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) made a protest towards Jokowi’s supporters act and staged a walk-out of the event.
Bagja said Jakarta Bawaslu had seven days to examine the initial finding. If it is proved as a violation, it will be registered as a criminal case that could be tried of adjudication or recommendation. “If it is tried in an open trial, we can review KPU’s mistake,” Bagja said on Monday, September 24.

Bagja said SBY staged a walk-out due to campaign attributes paraded during the peace declaration which he deemed the organizing committee failed to let it roamed around the event.
“It is not the fault of a candidate pair, but the organizing committee [KPU]. Don’t blame the incident to a candidate pair and that must be clarified,” he underlined.
Aside from campaign attributes, Bagja opined the incident was not caused by provocation acts committed by one of two candidate pairs. According to him, a campaign song was not a provocation act.
As reported earlier, SBY made a protest by walking out of the peace declaration of 2019 presidential election on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Ferdinand Hutahaean as Democrat Party’s head of advocacy and legal aid explained his party chairman felt inconvenient during the event as Jokowi’s supporters shouted out SBY’s entourage.
