President Jokowi Meets Chairman of Palestinian Olympic Committee

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi welcomed the visit by the Chairman of the Palestinian Olympic Committee Jibril Mahmoud Muhammad Rajoub at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 21.
During the meeting, Jokowi expressed his gratitude for the Chairman’s visit at the 2018 Asian Games opening. “And the whole world knows that Palestine is present to send a large number of athletes, 88 athletes for 14 sports,” said Jokowi.
According to Jokowi, the Indonesian people also contribute to the presence of Palestine. ”When defiling the Palestinian contingent and also the Indonesian public, the Indonesian people also provide extraordinary support, especially those who present at the stadium,” he said.
Jokowi also mentioned the Asian Games football match between Palestine and Indonesia some time ago. The Indonesian team lost 1-2 to Palestine in the Group A qualifying match at the Patriot Stadium, Bekasi, Wednesday, August 15.
The 2018 Asian Games was officially opened at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta, August 18. The sports event was attended by 45 countries with a total of 11,478 athletes who will compete in 40 sports.
