TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara said that the Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is mainly tasked with cyber security issues instead of handling hoaxes.

“Hoaxes relate to content. The BSSN’s tasks do not relate to hoaxes,” Rudiantara said in Jakarta on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Rudiantara said that the BSSN is fully in charge of state security in the digital sector, particularly to tackle cyber attacks, including malwares.

“Its focus is cyber security, such as handling Wannacry or hacking...” he said.

The Minister added that the BSSN also issues regulations on cyber security that include the handling, mitigation, recovery or rebuilding of state facilities attacked by malwares.

He added that some units of the Informatics Ministry will also work closely with the BSSN.

President Joko Widodo earlier sworn in Maj. Gen. Djoko Setiadi as BSSN chief at the State Palace on Wednesday. Setiadi previously served as the Crypto Agency chief.

The BSSN is working directly under the President.
