Bali Volcano Mount Agung Shows Decrease in Activity Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG) suggested that the activity of Bali volcano Mount Agung is currently decreasing. The report is based on the height of the ash clouds emerging from the mount's crater today, December 1.
PVMBG Head of Mitigation I Gede Suantika explained that the height of Mount Agung’s ash cloud is currently between 1,500 to 2,000 meters high. However, he said that it may change suddenly sometime in the future.

The Bali volcano Mount Agung’s initial phreatic eruption happened on Saturday, November 25, on 05:30 p.m. Central Indonesian Time. The ash reached 1,500 meters height from the crater.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the eruption occurred at 05:05 a.m. where its dark-colored medium-pressured ash clouds rushed 2,000 meters upwards and then to 3,000 meters on 05:45 a.m.
I Gede reminded that the hazard radius area is still set at roughly 8 kilometers from the crater of Bali volcano Mount Agung. According to data collected by Bali regional mitigation agency (BPBD), around 43,358 people have been evacuated to 229 places on November 29.
