TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto is once again undergoing Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogation at the KPK headquarters on Tuesday, November 21.
Setya Novanto is officially KPK’s sixth suspect responsible for the corruption of the nationwide electronic ID card project (e-KTP). According to Tempo's observation, Setya entered the building on 10:35 AM. Beneath the bright orange vest, Setya wore the same clothes that he was wearing on the first day he was detained by the KPK.
KPK Spokesman Febri Diansyah was not able to be asked for confirmation as of press time. Previously, Setya Novanto had been questioned as a suspect and witness for other e-KTP corruption suspects.
Setya Novanto was officially named as a suspect by the KPK on November 10, however, the investigative warrant against him was issued since October 31.
The anti-graft agency summoned the Golkar Party chairman to be questioned as a suspect on November 15, but he ignored the summons. Therefore, the anti-graft agency decided to forcefully pick up Setya at that same evening.
The DPR Speaker was nowhere to be found at the time KPK investigators arrived at his residence in South Jakarta. The following day, the anti-graft commission and the public was surprised by the news about Setya’s car accident.
KPK then decided to issue an official warrant to detain the Setya Novanto on Friday, November 17, who was being treated at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).
