TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah started the end of the month with a gain at the spot market this morning, October 31. The rupiah opened with a 0.15-percent (20 bps) gain to trade for Rp13,562 per US dollar.
The rate is an extension from yesterday's rebound, and marks the end of the Garuda's three-day correction last week.
For the rest of the day, the rupiah is expected to move between Rp13,566 and Rp13,608 per US dollar.
According to Bloomberg, the rupiah is appreciated for the first time in four days after the US Treasury yield declined and expectations of Indonesia's accelerated growth in increasing local assets' sales value.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Indonesia's economy can grow faster next year, and "can be pushed to increase investments in 2018".
Indonesia's economy is projected to grow 5.4 percent next year, which—if realized—will be the fastest rate in five years.
