TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) said the inauguration of the Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno as the new Jakarta governor and deputy on October 16, will have no effect on the stock price index nor the rupiah exchange rate.
"It's just the sworn-in ceremony, the election process is over. There should be no impact," IDX development director Nicky Hogan said in Jakarta Friday, October 13.
According to Nicky, governor's elections have little effect on the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) and the rupiah exchange rate. "We are talking about the entire country, not just Jakarta," he said.
Meanwhile, Binaartha Sekuritas analyst Reza Priyambada projected the rupiah to move between Rp13,530 and Rp13,484 per US dollar today. He also projects the JCI to strengthen up to 5,962 bps.
Indosurya Sekuritas' VP of research William Surya Wijaya also predicted the JCI to strengthen today. According to William, the index will spend the day moving between 5,839 and 5,965.
