TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The famous Indonesian herbal medicine brand Nyonya Meneer will file an appeal to the Semarang District Court after the company was declared bankrupt.
According to Nyonya Meneer president director Charles Saerang, he and his legal team members Anda Sidabalok and Arnol Sinaga will challenge Law No. 37/2004 on Bankruptcy and Debt Obligation Postponement. They argue that the court was too quick in declaring the verdict.
Charles’ lawyer will also travel to Semarang to attend a meeting with the company’s creditor. Charles claims that he has a good relationship with Hendrianto, the person who filed the bankruptcy against Nyonya Meneer who is also the company’s herbal supplier.
The business relationship between them, according to Charles, has been going on for almost 70 years. He also claimed that the company bought supplies from Hendrianto before they got the bankrupt status.
“It’s normal for big companies to have debts. This business keeps on moving. I don't think it’s fair to say that we have decades worth of debts,” said Charles.
The bankruptcy lawsuit against Nyonya Meneer was filed by creditor Hendrianto Bambang Santoso from Sukoharjo. He said that PT Nyonya Meneer did not pay its debt that he claimed has amounted to Rp7.04 billion.
