TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government are optimistic that 1,000 Startup Digital National Movement kicked off since 2016 will result in the establishment of 1,000 digital companies in Indonesia by 2020.
"The number 1.000 in the 1.000 Startup Digital National Movement is not just a symbol," Communication and Information Ministry’s Application Implementation division head Sonny Sudaryana in Surabaya, East Java on Saturday (3/6).
He said since its launch in Jakarta on July 2016, this initiative has targeted that in five years, which is in 2020, 1.000 startup digital companies will be established. This movement is intended for young entrepreneurs across ten cities namely Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Malang, Medan, Bali, Makassar, and Pontianak, he explained.
"This is what President Joko Widodo wants. He wants Indonesia menjadi to be the largest digital energy in ASEAN regions," he added.
