TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Power plant operator company PT Cirebon Energi Prasarana expected that the environmentally friendly Cirebon Unit II Power Plant in Kanci can be fully operational by the end of 2020.
PT Cirebon Energi Prasarana president director Heru Dewanto said that Cirebon Unit II Power Plant will have a capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW). The project is financed by a syndicate of Japanese and South Korean banks.
"The Unit II power plant is worth around 2.2 billion US dollar. All from foreign loans and authorized capital or paid-up capital. So, the loan is 75 percent, the equity is 25 percent," Heru said.
Heru said that Cirebon Unit II Power Plant is environmentally friendly because it will use clean coal technology. "As for the environmental aspect, we use clean coal technology or supercritical technology at Unit I and is already operating. As for Unit II, we will also use clean coal technology, for example, ultra supercritical," Heru said.
In Indonesia, Heru explained, only two power plants use clean coal technology, one of which is Cirebon power plant.
"We have also informed West Java Governor that Cirebon unit I power plant has been awarded in ASEAN and Asia as the best power plant project," Heru said.
Heru added that Cirebon Unit I power plant with a capacity of 660 megawatts has been operating since 2012 to supply electricity to the islands of Java, Madura and Bali.
