TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian reiterated that the police did not wiretap the phone call of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
"I would like to stress that the police did not wiretap SBY’s phone conversation,” Tito said in Semarang on Saturday.
Tito also said the police are ready to explain the case to the House of Representatives (DPR).
"It’s no problem if the DPR summons us,” Tito said.
Previously, former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he was illegally wiretapped during his phone call with Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) chairman Ma'ruf Amin.
Yudhoyono called on the police to begin a criminal investigation into the alleged illegal tapping, which he claimed was as “nasty as the Watergate scandal”.
