TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - India`s Consulate General in Denpasar supports a direct flight from India to Bali as they said that Indian tourists visiting Bali continue to increase. “If you travel as a tourist, you wouldn’t want to waste time by going through an airport transit. If there was a direct flight, it would certainly be more efficient,” said India’s Consular General in Denpasar, RO Sunil Babu on Thursday, January 26, 2017.
According to Sunil, tourists from India that travel to Bali must take a connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore that usually takes more than four hours.
National flight carrier Garuda Indonesia has recently opened a direct flight to India but it still has to transit in Jakarta before continuing its flight to Mumbai.
Sunil also mentioned Bali’s attractiveness for the Indian people. He claims that Indian tourists often visit Bali because of its culture similarities.
Based on the data from Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province, the number of Indian tourists spiked throughout 2016. Compared to 2015, the number grew 60.59 percent or 164,345 tourists throughout the January-November 2016 period.
