TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Vice President Jusuf Kalla told the media on Monday, August 3, 2015, that he supports Japanese military enhancement as proposed by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

"There is an old saying, si vis pacem para bellum," said Kalla in his office. "Most importantly, Japan has learned from past experience and will try to keep the world at peace,” he said at the end of a two-day discussion on Japan and Asia’s role world development.

The event itself was held by the Jakarta Post, Tempo, and Japan Foundation.

When asked what he wants to hear from PM Abe in the 70th commemoration of the end of the World War II, Kalla suggested PM Abe to be objective. "Apologizing will do good impact," said Kalla.

Moreover, Kalla responded on the competition between China and Japan in offering technology like bullet train. "Japan has offered us a high tech piece, while China began offering a piece with more competitive price," he said.

Therefore, Indonesia will likely ask advices from European consultant. Kalla said that the competition shows that investors have begun considering Indonesia, particularly in terms of natural resources and market potential.
