TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) in Bandung had lowered the status of Mount Kelud from 'Alert' to 'Caution'.
"Starting from 16:30 pm, Mt. Kelud’s status has become 'Caution' from the previously 'Alert'," said the Chief of Mt. Kelud Observation Team, Umar Rosyadi in Margomulyo Village, Kediri Regency, to Tempo on Friday.
Mount Kelud continued to spew gases, added with several small-scaled tremors that indicate there was no process of energy build-up like the one happened before the eruption. The tremors indicated the changes into a more stable condition.
Umar said that the lowering of status automatically shortened the exclusion zone up to 3 kilometers from the peak. The status will continue to be evaluated for a week a head until the 'Normal' status confirmed. Umar asked people to stay away from the exclusion zone for their safety.
